I've been to Tibits a few times now. The surroundings are lovely and as another reviewer mentioned, it's nice not to have to wait around for a bill. There is a wide selection of food, including plenty for vegans. The desserts are a little disappointing because, despite being a fully veggie establishment, they don't use free-range eggs (I asked and was told "it's just pasteurised egg"). Not having a dessert doesn't bother too much because I've normally got a full tummy by the time I've finished all the goodies I've put on my plate. It would be helpful if there was some kind of sign or direction when you walked in, so you know what to do. I had no idea that one bread roll (they are tiny) comes in the price, nor what to do after I'd put the food on my plate. Considering you help yourself and that most of the food is salad-based or cold (sometimes when it should be hot), a decent plate does work out to be pretty expensive. Obviously you'll get a fuller plate for less money if you fill it with lighter-weight ingredients, but I've paid between £9 and £11. As another reviewer has said, the drinks are expensive too but they have a good selection. On one occasion my friend and I were asked if we would move to another table so that they could accommodate a larger party. While we were happy to do so I ended up annoyed because my friend was offered a free drink for moving, yet because I had just paid, I got nothing and was not offered a refund. That little gripe aside, I'd still return to Tibits because I enjoy the variety of food that I can choose for myself, plus the flowers in there smell gorgeous! Neutral J Bonner

Although definition varies, I'd say a full plate at Tibits is a lot nearer the £12-15 mark. The food is measured by weight, so with all the variety of dishes to pick from at your leisure - it's a little easy to forget it's not a buffet!! Whilst obviously how much you spend depends on how greedy you are, the food is priced quite expensively per 100g. The food itself is generally very different - with a wonderful choice of salads, breads and hot dishes - great choice for vegans and well-labeled. Tofu, ginger, apple and fig salad is interesting and inventive - great flavour balance. Falafels are a little salty but divine! Hot dishes seem to be the safest option - some of the cold dishes can be a little potent or prone to not mixing well. Drinks are quite over-priced, but they have unfurling tea flowers that are lovely. Juice is made on the day, but not to order, and is very expensive for what it is. Desserts are an option, but are mainly fruit for vegans, sometimes a very popular choclate mousse that is more often than not empty due to demand. I like the decor of the restaurant, and it's very nice to just be able to up and leave when you want because everything is paid for beforehand. There is less pressure to tip or pay a service charge here, though I'm sure there is the option to, even though not as necessary since you serve yourself! Positive KMG

For breakfast, junch or dinner you help yourself from a large choice of hot and cold dishes and pay by weight. I went for lunch and paid £7.60 for a full plate and everything I chose was excellent. All food is GM-free. Good selection of fruit juices, wines, beers, cocktails, etc. Staff very helpful and friendly. Comfortable seating and spacious inside. Positive Howard Rowley
