I have loved this restaurant through the decades and every time I visit London I have to go there. The food is 2nd to none and the atmosphere is something special that has to be experienced. Even my teenage son is now a fan. Place scrupulously clean, food delicious, wide choice & plentiful, service fantastic, prices amazing for Soho.....what's not to love about this place? I love this restaurant. I took my non-veggie sister and she really enjoyed her meal. The atmosphere was peaceful and chilled but not to the extent where it becomes pretentious and weird. The people were calm and welcoming with none of that fake-friendliness you often encounter. The food was really good with genuine ingredients and fantastic deserts. I'm going to ask a friend along, and was surprised to find the occasional bad review elsewhere commenting that it's self-service and basic - I can only imagine that these people don't "get" Govinda's! I found one girl saying the staff attitude was "sour" - that certainly wasn't my experience - from her review I'm sure she'd turn anyone sour! These are real people! (She also suggested people go to Pizza Hut instead, so...........) Anyway - I'm babbling - I think this is a great place, I had a spinachy wrap thing and a lovely cold mangoey drink, you can sit outside (work was happening outside when we went so we didn't) - you can learn about Hare Krishna's there if you like but it's not thrust down your throat at all. I said before it's basic and that's not untrue but it *is* attractive, and there is enough inner beauty to be getting on with anyway! : ) Positive Frog

I admit to currently having a bias towards this restaurant, as a Hare Krishna. However, when I first ate their I was a meat eater, and it was this food that made me a vegetarian. It's a fantastic restaurant with fantastic food. It's not all Indian, and most Indian dishes aren't very spicy (for better or for worse). The Paneer burger is excellent, as is everything I have tried there. There's a spinach roll which is slightly expensive. That's all the bad things I have to say! Neutral Hari

I recommend this place to everyone, it is the only choice of place I'd go to in Soho. Not only is the food great and low in price, I find it super how we're never preached at and that the service is always great. I also note the calmness and satisfaction of other diners there. The alternative food approach helps my partner especially as he struggles with being a veggie having been bought up a non veggie himself. We always leave there stuffed and happy!! Positive Amrit

Spiritually fulfilling, intoxicatingly calm atmosphere. Its just not good food, its solution to my problems. Everything seems so nice and easy and pace of life's struggle slows down and you really relish the food . Just pick up small book and read and relax as you eat. Positive Gautam Bhatia

I have eaten here twice recently and feel that it really does not deserve the praise it gets. As a lover of all Indian food I found most of this quite bland and without flavour, but what I can't quite get over is the terrible sourness of all the staff. Perhaps their mood had precipitated into the food! My buddhist vegetarian friend, who was eating with me, assurred me that for some reason this is quite common in buddhist restaurants - why? If you are in the west end and want really tasty Indian food you would be much better off a few minutes walk away in Ragam on Cleveland Street or at the Indian YMCA on Fitzroy Square, where you will eat well without burning a hole in your pockets - enjoy. The bread is the best you can get. The staff are friendly and helpful. Prices are about what you would expect in London. Some incredible home made sweet dishes that will really get your taste buds rearing. And the lazanya (sic) is a real treat. I believe the food there is truly pure and spiritual. I drop in whenever I'm in London. Positive Arthur Smith
