The atmosphere is relaxed and un-rushed; perhaps don't go if you have limited time or are starving hungry, as at busy periods you can be waiting a while. Staff are equally cheery and chilled-out. The food is delicious, I always leave feeling satisfied and well-nourished! The prices are fantastic; a large bowl of soup and a door-step slice of bread for £2- say no more! Positive Kathryn C

Brilliant friendly staff. A great place to relax for lunch break. I am not a vegetarian but there is so much choice, I don't even think about meat dishes. Good prices too and portions are spot on. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Positive Alison Hyde

In an age where more of us are concerned about where our food hascome from, and the impact of our diet on the environment and people aroundthe world, the Crocus Cafe is a godsend. Organizing itself around six keyprinciples: locally sourced, environmentally aware, fair trade, communitybased, vegetarian and healthy and affordable, eating at the Crocus has adistinctly "feel good" factor. However, no compromises are made over thequality of the food: the daily changing menu always has a substantialhome-made soup, inventive main course, plus staples such as a full veggiebreakfast and cheese on toast. Cakes are either made on site or boughtfrom a local vegan bakery and all are vegan and delicious. At times, thecafe is short staffed and servers very stressed, but this is perfectlyunderstandable when everyone is a volunteer who is giving up their freetime to support the cafe. Your £2.90 could not be better spent elsewhere. Positive Clare Russell

Crocus is a community café based in Lenton that sells fair trade or locally sourced vegetarian and vegan food. The atmosphere is very friendly and cosy - there is a selection of books if you choose to visit alone, or board games if you bring friends. There are facilities for small children, including high chairs and changing facilities. You can surf the internet for £1 off the computers at the back of the café, or free over the wireless connection if you bring your lap top. Crocus is popular with students and locals alike. Most importantly, the food is great. The kitchen is small and as a result choice can be limited, but the menu is changed almost daily and the chef is always on hand to answer questions. Portions are very generous and prices are exceptional. Main meals are 2.90 and a cup of fair trade tea is 60p. Crocus is a very enjoyable dinning experience. Neutral Claire Hardy

Non-profit volunteer run cafe/bakery who display art and have other events on. Tucked away but very pleasant and relaxed inside - the menu is limited (although I've had different stuff off the blackboard each time) and is surprisingly good, especially considering how incredibly cheap it is. Worth a visit & supporting. Positive Francis Dashwood
